2020 Ford Escape
All-New Ford Escape. Recharged.
With a blend of style, performance and flexibility, the all-new Ford Escape will once again set a new standard for the small SUV segment. Four powertrain options – including an all-new hybrid and an all-new plug-in hybrid – a sleek, sporty design, and innovative features like sliding second-row seats, a standard selectable drive mode system and more technology than ever before separate the all-new Escape from the crowd.
Best Performing Escape Ever
With You – For the long Haul
The all-new Ford Escape offers four powertrain options, each with its own standout qualities. All four target an EPA-estimated range of at least 400 miles per tank, meaning fewer stops between fill ups. The all-new Escape Hybrid is poised to lead the segment with a targeted EPA-estimated range of at least 550 miles.*
Head-Turning from Every Angle
Lower, longer and wider than the current model, the all-new Escape wears a sporty, stylish exterior that is at home wherever it takes you – whether on date-night or for a weekend getaway.
Mustang influenced its shield-shaped trapezoidal grille, and its lower front end borrowed from none other than Ford GT. The result is a vehicle that is uniquely Escape. Sleeker than ever before, with a sloped roofline, optimized liftgate spoiler and strake, and efficient underbody, the all-new Escape is the most aerodynamic to date.
Escape sheds more than 200 pounds from the current model, due in part to the extensive use of high-strength, lightweight steel throughout the skeleton. Ultra-high-strength steel 3D-rolled tubes run up each A-pillar and along the rooflines, and high-strength boron steel solidifies the subframe. Aluminum components, such as hood and suspension link arms, contribute to the lower weight.
A sliding second-row seat, unique among small SUV entries, allows rear-seat passengers to increase legroom, knee clearance and footwell length for a more comfortable ride. With the second-row seat in the full-rearward position, the gas engine-powered Escape delivers best-in-class legroom, to complement improved headroom, shoulder room and hip room. With the second-row seat in the full-forward position, the rear cargo area in gas engine-powered models extends nearly six inches to increase the cargo area to 37.5 cubic feet.
It’s Your Cargo Space. Use It.
Driving a hybrid used to mean sacrificing cargo space. Not any longer. The hybrid battery in the all-new Escape is ingeniously packaged beneath the second-row seats, so the cargo area remains capable of hauling everyday items. The cargo area was specifically designed so that Escape can accommodate a foursome of golfers up front – and four sets of golf clubs in back.
Wherever the Road Leads You
With a selectable drive mode system that is standard across the lineup, the all-new Escape makes it easy for Escape owners to create the ride experience they desire – or that conditions demand. The five-setting system includes drive modes tailored for Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery and Snow/Sand driving.
Hybrid drivers also can get the most benefit from their hybrid engine and opt for any of four hybrid drive modes – Auto EV, EV Now, EV Later and EV Charge. In all-new EV Charge mode, drivers can continue to charge the hybrid battery while driving, but opt to save those electric-only miles for a later time.
Smartest Escape Ever
A Co-Pilot at Your Side
With a pair of first-in-class available features like Active Park Assist 2.0 and Evasive Steering Assist, the all-new Escape brings to small SUV drivers a new level of driver-assist technologies. Active Park Assist 2.0 allows the driver to park in a parallel or perpendicular spot with the touch of a button, without having to work the steering wheel, gear shifter, gas pedal or brake pedal. Evasive Steering Assist detects a slower-moving or stationary vehicle ahead and provides steering support that can assist the driver to avoid an imminent collision.
Eyes on the Road
Titanium models are available with an all-new heads-up display, a Ford first in North America. The system projects information onto a 6-inch screen that protrudes from the dashboard in front of the steering wheel, giving drivers easy access to important information such as vehicle speed – without taking their eyes off the road.
The all-new Escape features loads of connectivity technology, starting with FordPass Connect™, a standard feature that serves up 4G LTE Wi-Fi for up to 10 mobile devices with a compatible wireless subscription service. An available 8-inch touch screen mounted on the center stack uses capacitive glass for quicker, more responsive interaction with the available updated SYNC® 3 system and compatibility with available features such as Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto®, Waze navigation and Ford+Alexa. For music lovers, Escape offers an available 575-watt 10-speaker B&O premium audio system.
